NJSHAD: New Jersey's Public Health Data Resource

This page gives an overview of the types of data that the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services provides. The inverted pyramid, shown to the right, shows the requested information frequency and the data service provided. Each of the layers is discussed in more detail below:
  • Publications - Publications are designed to answer the most common and frequently asked questions concerning New Jersey health issues. Publications usually contain detailed analyses of numerical data along with supporting contextual information. They often contain summaries and specific graphical data charts. This section contains links to various NJDHSS publication pages and may be accessed using the Publications link near the top of any page.
  • Indicator Reports - Indicator Profile Reports also answer frequently asked questions but in a fact sheet or data brief format. This section contains two indexes for selecting reports - Alphabetical and Categorical - and may be accessed using the Indicator Reports link near the top of any page.
  • Dataset Queries - Dataset Queries allow custom querying of publicly available, deidentified numerical public health datasets through the use of user-defined filtering criteria to control what data are retrieved. This section contains links to the datasets that are currently available for custom queries and may be accessed using the Dataset Queries link near the top of any page.
  • Help - If you have not found the information you need or if you have questions, please check the main Help page or the Query Help page for additional information and resources.
  • Contact - If you still can not find the information you need, please do not hesitate to contact the NJDHSS Center for Health Statistics by email at or by phone at (609) 984-6702. All e-mails and phone messages will be returned within one business day.
